Bio and CV
Chongha Peter Lee is currently based out of New York, Washington, D.C and Amsterdam. He is a polymath transmedia artist whose work deals with the transcultural politics of public health equity media and performance art, neural architectures and impact markets. The artistic forms fuse emergent global street culture, critical historical contextualizations and new scientific knowledge and technologies.
He has advised on AI ethics for one of the first carbon credit and biodiversity markets in the U.S.; collaborated on a novel use and valuation system of NFT's at the New Media Art Museum in Istanbul, Turkey; and collaborative produced transmedia artworks mediating the politics of oppressed populations for Documenta 15, Manifesta 14 and the Venice Biennale 2019.
He is currently directing a long-term exhibition project centered around public health equity, both as a Research Fellow for Provisions Library for Arts and Social Change, based out of George Mason University, and as technological and creative director at Plant Group, working for one of the world's largest carbon impact markets. One of his many duties is to actively research and develop novel and ethical uses of AI and create UX for neurodiverse users.
In terms of impact, his health equity exhibition project has helped avert the unnecessary death of a patient; facilitated the extraction of an artist amidst a collapsing economy in Turkey; prevented the eviction of an immigrant in South America; helped facilitate a safe space for refugees, migrant and non-migrant individuals in precarious situations with varying degrees of neurodiversity - including an individual who was wrongfully imprisoned.
In 2016, he received his MFA in Transmedia at Syracuse University, creating an art automation software that took part in the world's first automated VR biennale. He co-founded the “Antifragile Agency”, an art and research assemblage which participated in The Wrong Biennale, and “Superpositional Reality” – a VR work that was shown in Video Vortex as part of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. He co-produced the “The Impossible Dialogues Interface” for the Chile Architectural Biennale XX in 2017 and has been working in socially-engaged art projects showing in multiple Biennales and conferences in both the North and South America's since 2010.
